Venice beach Vintage …

Kim and I went shopping over the weekend to get some home prouducts and to purchase some vintage clothes . So with our coffees in hand we walked up and down Abbot Kinney blvd. and found this amazing little cottage.   Tumbleweed & Dandelion. So we went in and we loved every details of this amazing place !           Venice 055I love the signs and thought the cottage decor was a perfect mix of shabby chic with beachy chic. I enjoyed the bedroom where we found some amazing fabrics that I will be using for some pillows and throws for my Etsy shop.  I loved the distress  Venice beach signs they had everywhere and some really cool girls asked us to take there pictures.                  Venice 042 Venice 043 Venice 045 Venice 046 Venice 041The white distressed  chest was aged to perfection. And the linens were thick and priced well. I loved the stack of pillows on the bed and thought , I could live here ! Onward to the outside where the decor was as amazing as the inside !              Venice 028 Venice 029 Venice 030 Venice 027 Venice 039Well if you make it to Venice Beach make sure you stop by and see this beachy chic cottage.   Kim and I  will be doing a lot more shopping here. Next post more shops from Venice Beach !

Vintage Hollywood Blvd…

The Hollywood walk of fame was created in 1953, with the original idea for creating a  Walk as a means to “maintain the glory of a community whose name means glamour and excitement in the four corners of the world.” Today my girlfriends and I enjoyed the vintage billboards that are still there today,  to remind us of the classic movie greats such as Peter Lorre and Alfred Hitchcock.  I felt like Alfred and Peter were right there staring at us ! Old Hollywood fun and glamor.  A great day of shopping, talking and eating all along Hollywood  Blvd.  I wore my vintage 1960’s hat, my vintage 1980’s coat and my vintage 1980’s boots.

San Luis Obispo

We’re up here in beautiful San Luis Obispo enjoying the cool weather. It’s overcast and cloudy and the temperature a perfect 65 degrees. We got up early and went to the local farmers market.

I was impressed with the local grown organic veggies from the local university Cal Poly.

Look it at how beautiful they have their veggies displayed. And their prices are excellent !

Next we headed to this cute pumpkin patch where Leo had a blast picking out a pumpkin.

We loaded up our Trader Joes bag with two nice size pumpkins , so we can carve them when we get back home.

Were on our way down to downtown San Luis Obispo ,  then to the  Madonna Inn for a antique fair, more pictures tomorrow, have a fun day !

The Magic of Nature…

The magic of nature is everywhere. The most meaningful meditation , dreams and experiences come through entering a magical relationship with nature.  I have traveled the world and photographed sacred sites  like Stonehenge, Mayan temples, The Tor, The Great Pyramids, and all the great temples along the Nile. But you don’t have to travel to these sacred sites to understand the magic of power spots. Some of the most magical places are right here in our home towns. A fountain, a spring, a park, a beach or lake, an old town, a big old tree, a historical building, a flagpole, an outdoor amphitheater. Anyone of these places make an excellent background for a photo shoot .

In seeking out these sites you’ll come to find that these places can inspire you and give you a sence of sanctuary, a place that can recharge you. You don’t need a special reason to seek out a power spot, sometimes it’s great just being there.  Maybe in return you can give thanks to mother earth and by doing this you have created a positive energy flow between you and nature…

A touch with nature is a touch with magic..

Review of 2011 by wordpress…

The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people.  This blog was viewed about 16,000 times in 2011.  If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 6 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

In 2011, there were 132 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 281 posts. There were 1148 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 2gb. That’s about 3 pictures per day.

The busiest day of the year was June 21st with 307 views.

The most popular post that day was Venice Beach shopping…”The Bountiful”.

Thank-you wordpress, and a big  thank-you to all of you who have stopped by to visit my blog. I have had some request for more pictures of Costal Beach shopping and alfresco dinning at cafes.  I will be heading to the local beaches a lot in 2012, to post my latest finds so please join me and have a wonderful 2012 !

San Luis Obispo….

A weekend jaunt  to San Luis Obispo for some window shopping down Haguera street with some out-of-town guest .

This street is so very quaint with all the outdoor sidewalks and old brick buildings and earthy boutiques…..

It’s that time of year from some warm socks and this sock boutiques was certainly fun !

Have you started your holiday shopping yet ? I am just now starting a little late this year…

Time to pick up some holiday cards and I found the perfect place, The Paper Sky…a whimsical and fun paper shop, I adored the perfect little cards hanging all in a row.

or some simple paper tags in a jars ready for your Christmas gifts …

This small town takes me back to my youth as I use to come spend my summers here with my girlfriend Trish and  ride her horse captain,  I wonder if she still lives here.

This is a town to ponder, to explore and to shop…

have a great week

Looking for the best fish taco….

Looking for the best fish taco along the California coast(#7 on the ten things we want to do for the summer). We  have stopped at The Shack  at Wind-an-sea beach…after out plane ride from Chicago which seem like a great welcome back to California.

Two cute beach cruisers in back is  always a good sign.

.

The Shack is at a great location 6941 La Jolla Blvd in La Jolla ….and The Shack has a nice patio to dine Alfresco.

The menu is so very  cute…now there was not a lot of people at this time of day , just Darrill, Leo and I to be exact…but it sure  took a long time for us to get our food, and Darrill was not happy.

At last our fish tacos have arrived , grilled with cabbage and a side of fresh salsa,  I would have to say that they were pretty good but certainly not the best..we headed to the waters edge after lunch and got soaked by a high wave..back to the California coast how exciting !

I am still searching for the best fish tacos along the California coast.

But I would like to say  thank you Zane and Perla for the tips on two great locations, I will try them next !

Jogging in the beautiful Arizona desert….

I had a wedding photo shoot in the Arizona desert this last weekend and Hunter and I hop in my car and I drove  5  1/2 hours to Phoenix . After that long drive I needed some exercise.   I have made exercising my life style and I have been  going to the gym 5 days a week.  But what do you do when you’re on location ?   Well, I bring my gray sketcher, my Ipod , my water bottle and my exercise clothes.  I  find some beautiful scenery and get outside with the fresh air and  jog .  My hour jog burns up to 482 big ones and tones my legs  and butt with every step . Yes I am addicted to exercise and why not. I have so much more energy now (and it certainly  helps with Leo) and I eat more and still lose weight… before  jogging  make sure you warm up with some simple stretching. Bend down and touch your toes, then reach your arms up  high and stretch your body, then right and left  leg  forward stretches. I wear a heart monitor watch so I can keep my heart rate at about 135 to 145 to burn those calories.

Summer is right around the corner and I would like to be ready for summer  this year.

Hope everyone has a fun week..

xoxo

When I travel…

I have had some questions on how I work when I travel.  Since I need room for all my camera equipment,  I do not bring my lap top. I make sure the hotel I stay at has internet access, I think most do now. And I use the in-house computer and log on and write my daily posts. I don’t upload my pictures untill I get home, so I can photo shop them and crop them and do my magic. I wish I could find a better solution to uploading my photos, but since I use such a large format, it’s hard to upload my photos on anything but my home laptop.  I know there are a lot of photographers now uploading on their Iphones and then downloading them onto their website or blog, but how do you photo shop them on such a tiny screen ???

This is a image of a  typical  mornings when I travel ,(San Francisco) but I must say it’s nice to have the coffee ready for you and to have those great croissants with butter and honey…yummy !

Hope everyone has a wonderful week !
