So many people ask me why I love Halloween. Well, my mom’s birthday is Oct 30th and every year when I was young, my mom would make a grand celebration on Halloween, complete with a beautiful decorated table and extravagant foods and deserts. My mom is a wonderful cook. I still to this day call her to ask her for some of her wonderful recipes. I think maybe that’s why I became a kitchen designer. I only wish I had half her talent. Well this weekend we are off to the queen witches birthday party in Arizona. And she will be 70, and she doesn’t look a day over 35, well I guess all her tonics and elixirs really work. My mother was always very fair and beautiful the white witch of the family (Tanya looks a lot like her ). But don’t let her beauty fool you, she always turned poor men into toads…but we always loved her food.

My french coffee press post is next, and I am happy to say my blog stats has reached 20,000 ! Also bring out your white candles and send love to our earth .
Hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend !
I took these photos in old town at about noon, I photoshop these photos to give them a vintage look. Hunter looks so very cute !
A birthday dinner for hunter on my back veranda with my simple white dishes, and jars I saved for a candle holder. Yes I love simplicity.
I used my small round table for a sideboard.
Tanya helped with all the details….napkins, ice tea, olive oil , french bread, salt and pepper.
the sun was setting and it was time for dinner …
all the kids came, Brandon, Justin, Tanya, Fernando and of course Darrill and Leo .
Basil chicken linguine with lemon butter sauce , and basil salad…simple but so good !
Double chocolate cake with whip cream frosting and sliced almonds with vanilla ice cream…for desert ! I baked the cake just before the dinner so it was fresh !
Happy birthday Hunter I hope you had a wonderful birthday, I can’t believe your fifteen !!
and we will celebrate your birthday Sunday !!
So many of you with Birthdays this month, I would like to wish you all a very special day…
We are winter’s children — able to endure all kinds of weather and see the
beauty in bare branches against a gray sky and delight in snow-covered fields
that sparkle when the sun comes out.
We bundle up and make impress our footprints alongside those of squirrels and
bunnies and pups who walk obediently beside their masters.
And, we return with new appreciation to the comfortable warmth of our homes.
Being a winter child is not bad.
Happy Birthday to all of us.
So well said, Thank-you Dorothy !
My beautiful daughter Tanya was born on my 24th birthday, January 9th, and has alway been the light of my life. Well for one she has taken all my birthdays since I was 25, so I still feel like I am 25. I think we are as old as we feel, right ? I keep telling myself that everyday. Tanya is my oldest, and has always taken advantage of that fact. She feels she had the right to boss her little brothers around, and boy did she. But I have to attribute a lot of the boys success to her, as she did make sure they had clean clothes and their lunch, before they headed to school. And she always made them brush their teeth. Everyone says we look a lot alike, and we have the same mannerism.
She would never admit that, but I must admit, having Tanya as my daughter has given me so much joy, and as a mum , I am so very, very, proud of her ….happy… happy birthday Tanya !!
Leonardo had a very eventful Birthday, Disneyland with his best friend Nathan, a birthday tea with Sofia and Noah and a fireman party with his family and friends ! I would like to thanks Dora for the wonderful birthday cake, and his little friends, Sofia, Noah, Robert and Nathan for coming to his party ! And of course his fireman brothers Justin, Brandon and Fernando (brother-in-law)…..lets see did I forget anyone….oh yes his wonderful sister Tanya, and his brother Hunter ! Wow do we have a big family !
Thank-you from Darrill and I….and
Thank-you for all of you who joined us on my blog, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend !
