The natural simplicity of life…

How can you start seeing yourself in a different light? New Moon is in the dreamy sign of Pisces, which means things that have been hidden will surface and you will not be able to hide anything anymore. Is there something you have been hiding ?  Let it out and let it go. Also your dreams are very insightful at this time so pay attention and see what your higher self is trying to tell you. Light a candle before you go to sleep ,  sweet dreams as your imagination soars and those dreams may surface and become your reality before you know it…Think of pure, original thought as imagination. Think of it as a concept similar to the natural simplicity of life,  …let your dreams unfold and bloom…

Have a great day and night…

Heading to  Old town Pasadena to shop and dine.

Post soon to follow… xoxo

The art of dining Alfresco

I love dinning Alfresco all alone in a beautiful city where I can just sit back and people watch…and take a few pictures.

This is a quaint little cafe in Santa Barbara, one of my favorite places to people watch…

Cafe Shell, I love the yellow umbrellas…

and the cute colorful  french menu, with the perfect color plates…

When your dinning alone they always bring the food out quickly….and the waitress always stops to chat.

This salad was as  delicious as it looks…

The perfect setting, a delicious salad,  and the perfect sunny day….The art of dining Alfresco .

Hope everyone has a simply relaxing day !

Simply enjoy… Christmas

PEACE…JOY…LOVE…

I love the natural colors of the local wineries and I love to use these colors in my home.

I  keep my decorations simple and fresh. I have  two trees in pots so I have the  trees up all year. So when Christmas comes around I add my black and white family photos in silver frames, and a little sparkle with silver antique bulbs and crystal ornaments. I love the fresh colors of white, silver gold and apple green with just a touch of red.

My living room has an antique piano and I have added some white flowers and an angel, and a silver crown.

Just a touch of greenery, pinecones, and  gold and brown ornaments for my sconces in my living room .

My breakfast table is set with a snack for santa, a brownie cupcake, mints, and coffee to keep him awake all night long…

I think Santa will like the red reindeer plates given to me by Darrill’s mom, and the letter C cup for Christmas.

The dinning room table is still a work in progress, so far I have  set the table with white linens , white plates and a couple of pinecones Brandon brought to me from the local mountains.

I use my silver reindeer vase for all of  my winter holidays, and I have added  fresh greenery from Trader Joe’s.

I have cut some white roses from my garden and put them into my silver sugar cup, and I use the little snowflake spoon Darrill’s Aunt  sent to me.

In my bathroom and master bedroom I have a tall gold tree and another angel..

My wrapping is creams and golds and silver, and plain brown postage paper with white paper ribbons.  I make my tags with white paper stock and pine cone needles.

My entry table has fresh greenery and small white candles.

I shop Trader Joe’s for their great selection of French truffles, candy, and Holiday cookies.  Trader’s Joes Greenery is so reasonable , I can add fresh greenery for my home for about $30.00.

I have  a little present filled with French Truffles for each family member for our Christmas eve dinner.

A Simply Earthy Christmas…

Joyeux Noel !

A Wedding to remember…

Congrats to Lyndsey and  Steven  wed December 4th, 2010. I did not shoot this wedding, and I didn’t  bring my good camera so these photos aren’t very good…but I must say this was a very unique wedding. This couple is beautiful, creative , edgy and fun…and so was their wedding…

we arrived late and I was upset….but I got these great shots of this couple walking up the steps..

Steven Nunez is my brothers first-born and we all love him…

Lyndsey is a beautiful,  fun, smart and a exciting women, and we all love her.

Steven  is tall, dark , cool, edgy and a really nice guy… and they have been together for a long time.

so when we heard they were finally getting married we were all thrilled !

All eyes were on her as she looked  stunning …

Their very unique colors were purple, black, grey and pink….and white. The cake had a dark purple frosting, with chocolate cake and vanilla filling. They had a L, N and S on top for Lyndsey Nunez and Steven.

Her center pieces were black branches with hanging crystals and purple flowers stuck onto the branches. Lyndsey and her mom made the center pieces themselves wow, did they looked beautiful.

Tanya and Lyndsey, they look like they could be sisters…

and Brandon, Steven and Justin oh you can tell they are cousins.

They added just a little  bit of tradition, and a lot of originality.

A wedding to remember and I must say, we enjoyed ourselves till the last song was played.

Congrats  Steve for rasing such a great son,but you still have Emily,  and congrats to the beautiful couple  Steven and Lyndsey for overcoming any obstacle that came your way.

I hope you have a long and prosperous  marriage.  I think you are the ones who can show us all what true love is  all about !

Creepy Chic Halloween

Creepy Chic  Halloween week…I love the old world 18th century Halloween decorating style, and I start my festivities with black and white,  the theme I am using  for my  masquerade ball. Here are some of  my simple white dishes with  some  simple touches that  I have create for my Creepy Chic event.

I have added black napkins, some black  spiders , cream pumpkins,my glass desert plates, and  a black crow.

I bought these black and white clues cards at Micheals.  I used my old cologne bottle and added some stickers for my poison bottle. And I am using my crystal antique  napkin rings for some sparkle.

I decided to use my mask as a center piece, but I still need to pick up some white roses .

Darrill and I have been fighting over the three crows I bought at Target, he wanted my crows for his gravestones ! Target  had some great Creepy Chic napkins, plates and table cloths this Halloween season.

I am using my french press for coffee and I am making Mexican hot chocolate and pumpkin chocolate candy, the recipes on a later post. This would be the bistro ( kitchen ). Next post the Dinning room.

I hope everyone has a creepy fun week

Shells from our travels

Shells from all the beaches Leonardo and Hunter collected this summer. Shells remind me of distance beaches yet to be discovered. The wanderlust of travel. Maybe it’s just a trip to a local beach or a park. It really doesn’t matter as long as you find a treasure.   I have some beautiful rocks too but I’m not sure what to do with them.

I’ve added some of my personal treasures,  white flowers from my garden, scented candles and my antique silver.

California avocados and limes are perfect for any salad, and California’s treasure. They are the  perfect  shade of green.

The perfect setting for a romantic Friday night dinner at home.  I think I’ll make shrimp and avocado and lime salad.

Hope you have a nice weekend, I’m relaxing. Next week we’re heading to a distance beach yet to be discoved for some more beautiful shells, and I am taking you with me. So pack your bags and I will see you next week in Hawaii !

Bohemain musing ,Venice shopping

What I love most about Venice Beach was the shopping. It’s the mix of hippie funk and haute couture that makes Abbot Kinney Boulevard special. I love vintage boutiques and there was one at every corner. I could have spent the entire day  looking for vintage clothes and salvage  furniture  items.  But there was one shop that caught my eye, I turned my bike around  and headed towards this wonderful shop called Bountiful, 1335 Abbot Kinney Blvd. bountiful.com. I love the name, it’s a name I would use in a mantra. And when I walked into this shop, I felt like I was in a dream,   everything floated in a surreal fantasy of bountiful things.

If you look closely you can see my reflection, step  into this magical  shop with me and enjoy. I hear Rachel Ashwell (Shabby Chic ) and Pamela Anderson are frequent shoppers here.

I love the way the antique chandeliers hang delicately from the ceiling.

The Proprietor Sue Balmforth has a lot of antique linens from Europe and has a full design service available.

Pink is the color of Venice Beach, the color of the heart chakra and the color of love…the  Savaged , the beautiful, the bountiful,  la Dolce Vita !  Next post Abbot Kinney, the founder of Venice Beach, and of course some photos of the  Linus bike shop. Hope everyone has an enchanting week !

Abbot Kinney Boulevard Venice, CA 90291 6–10 p.m. http://www.abbotkinneynow.com
There’s no better way to check out the art (and the shopping) at Abbot Kinney Boulevard, located in the heart of Venice, than stopping by on the first Friday of every month. The event starts around 6 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m. The neighborhood merchants come together to feature the best artists, gifts, products and music. And of course, beverages are available. It’s a way to experience what Abbot Kinney Boulevard is all about.
