Vintage Market Place…

The Vintage Market place in Rainbow California was an amazing experience. I enjoyed every minute of this wonderful event. The theme was boho beach and  I was impresses by all the amazing booths all  in one place.  I loved all the beautiful vintage displays  but one of my favorites was Seahouse design by Lynda Lairmone from Irvine( 1st  four photos). I loved her colors of gray and turquoise with her shells.  I had to buy one of her market bags and she give me a great price !

I wore a 1960’s dress and basket bag with my boho shoes and shell necklace. I was surprise I sold all my vintage basket bags and hats, and all my white frames the 1st day so I had to go home and bring back my rack of clothes.

I work the show for John & Fab of Vintage Vendetta  from Lake Elsinore, where I have my boutique space and I loved every minute of meeting and greeting the customers and I made some new like-minded friends.

Another one of my favorites booths was Mora’s Antiques also from  Lake Elsinore.

Her display of  jewelry was outstanding.  Most of her jewelry is antique.

Styling, design and photography by Cheryl

I have a closet down stairs full of Venice Beach bohemain clothes(now which is my shop space & Etsy shop) and hats so when Danielle wanted a photo shoot I just had her come over and I dressed her with my hat, top, jean skirt, belt and shoes. I use this Ralp Lauren sette a lot for my shoots. Old books and teacup from my local thrift store.

The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people.  This blog was viewed about 16,000 times in 2011.  If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 6 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

In 2011, there were 132 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 281 posts. There were 1148 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 2gb. That’s about 3 pictures per day.

The busiest day of the year was June 21st with 307 views.

The most popular post that day was Venice Beach shopping…”The Bountiful”.

Thank-you wordpress, and a big  thank-you to all of you who have stopped by to visit my blog. I have had some request for more pictures of Costal Beach shopping and alfresco dinning at cafes.  I will be heading to the local beaches a lot in 2012, to post my latest finds so please join me and have a wonderful 2012 !

Mystery Dinner at the Manor house…

It’s a cool and overcast morning at The Manor house….and the Creepy Chic Mystery Dinner is tonight…

I have set the table the night before so I have plenty of time to prepare the food  today..I use all my old silver that my grandma has given me and some extra pieces I have picked up at antique stores and thrift stores.

Here are three pieces I have just bought for tonight’s dinner and I always like to use silver, pewter , clear glass, and white dishes. I think I have spent about five dollars each piece.

I have  mixed  my thrift store finds with my good silver and they look great together !

I throw the white cloth napkins in the washer and dryer so they have that crinkled look.

I decided to use a white pumpkin with a black crow to keep with the black and white theme.

I used a large white tag with a black and white ribbon for place cards. And I wrote the names in ink and very messy so they looked creepy.

The Menu

spice nuts

fruit platter

veggie platter

raisin carrot salad

pumpkin bread

rosemary pork loin roast

herb mashed potatoes

french green beans

assorted wines

chocolate cupcakes

red velvet cake

coffee

Have a simply creepy evening….

Count down to our Mystery Dinner…

Count down to our Creepy Chic mystery dinner and I am going to post all my  tricks and treats this week as our dinner is this weekend.  The dinning room is decorated with just the right lighting…and some mice and black crows have decided to join us.

I have bought lots and lots of white candles to keep the evil spirits away.

The clues have been written and sealed with red wax…

and I have found that perfect creepy chic dress….and a very large pointy hat.

Darrill even built a graveyard in the front yard….

should be spooky …join me if your dare !

Simply earthy Rolling greens Nursery

As far as nursery go this one is very earthy and so beautiful. This place use to be the town tire , and the sign is still there and before that it was an open air market in the 1930’s. This Hollywood location caters to the woman with the home decor building  and the cooking building which makes this a place Kim and I had to see.

So  very rustic yet elegant …

The selection of pottery is perfect for any earth plant lover.

I was thinking this old rusty bird-cage would look great for my mystery dinner this month. Well I have to wait and see what else there was here. Kim and I headed into the home decor building…and I really enjoyed the very beautiful  display of textiles, old books and old antique silver trays. Yes I must have a silver tray.

This place was so very  enchanting, complete with brick walls and beautiful chandelier …….

and bedding for any bedroom (at a plant nursery wow ?)…

and more urns and textiles…

This place had different sections for everything. The kitchen area had everything a cook would love…from all kinds of cooking essentials.

to candles and salt boxes.

The perfect wonderful circular cutting board. (I’ll take one of these too ! )

Cook books on earthy cuisine from Italy to Sweden’s sweets.

european towels…why yes I ‘ll take a few!

Never trust a skinny cook sign(cute ) . I would have liked to take just a few more things home but I ended up with  an antique silver tray for my Mystery dinner. As your insider guide to great places in L.A. this is a  must see with the girls !

Have a great week !

La Dolce Vita…

Summer has been very busy, with vacation days, beach days, pool days, birthdays and  lots of party’s and events,  I can hardly catch my breath. When I finally get some alone time I can honestly say I enjoy every minute . This special night  I gave Leonardo a big dinner and warm bath and put him to bed early. And this evening I decided to create a quaint alfresco dinner just for myself….la Dolce Vita (the sweet life) , complete with dishes I never use and lots of candles.

I bought these french blue and  cream  dishes at a flea market in Pasadena.  I love to find old gems like these plates. .. with a touch of yellow…Simply earthy.

I brought outside all my candles from the house.

I decided to make a simple meal, a chicken spring salad and mint tea .

This salad is simple to make, fresh greens, cucumber, green grapes and grilled chicken. Topped with lemon , celery salt and olive oil.

I even bought a card for myself , and I wrote the menu on my chalkboard…

I enjoyed my alfresco dinner and I read my card over and over as I ate. Spending some quality time with ourselves is a perfect way to spend a summer evening. I had a cup of chai tea and strawberrys for desert .  After all  the work we do for our kids, we deserve to treat ourselves  !

la Dolce Vita … Ciao ! Thanks abeachcottage for Good life Wed.

Shopping at San Clemente beach..

A very warm and fun weekend at San Clemente Beach ,  a beautiful Mediterranean beach town in Orange County. Darrill loves this beach and it’s pretty close to our house, so as soon as the weather gets hot here  in the canyon hills, we head to the beach to beat the heat.  We stay at the Hampton Inn and we love the bedding and the great continental breakfast. But first thing first, Mother’s day is coming up and  I wanted to do a little shopping. The best place for shopping at San Clemente is Del Mar street, and at the end of the street is the pier, and the parking is free, how simply perfect…

This looked like a cute shop…Villa Cucina home and kitchen.

I loved the color of this very fun shop called Jumpin Jack Cards …and the sale assistant was very helpful and give me some very interesting information about these two stores and the website address.

I loved the color of this very fun new shop called Jumpin Jack Cards and it’s other shop called  California Cove Gourmet, at 155 Avenida Del Mar st. Here is the website to both stores. http://californiacovedesigns.com/

California Cove Designs focuses on beautiful cruelty-free creations.
All profits are donated to causes that help abused animals, in an
effort to make the world a better place.”

“The soaps made here do not hurt the environment, and they are
really beautiful.  We believe that surrounding one’s self in beauty
promotes productivity and kindness.”

:

I love earthy delights and I found this very earthy shop  called “The Humble Abode at 228 Avenida Del Mar… www.thehumbleabode.net.

Is this bike  cute  ?  Yes ! I love the color and how old and rustic it looks. I knew I would love this shop.

as I walked in I saw the perfect color  creams candles all neat in a row,  with some wonderful  planters with a touch of green moss…

This  boutique is  filled with fresh treats, garden blooms, and one-of-a-kind gifts. As I  walked onto the  back
courtyard, I found more one of a kind garden  treasures.

A great day of shopping ! I had to call Tanya and tell her of this great street with all theses beautiful shops, and of course what I wanted for Mother’s Day,  next post dinning Alfresco  by the spanish village by the sea …

Hope everyone has a great week !
