Mystery Dinner at the Manor house…

It’s a cool and overcast morning at The Manor house….and the Creepy Chic Mystery Dinner is tonight…

I have set the table the night before so I have plenty of time to prepare the food  today..I use all my old silver that my grandma has given me and some extra pieces I have picked up at antique stores and thrift stores.

Here are three pieces I have just bought for tonight’s dinner and I always like to use silver, pewter , clear glass, and white dishes. I think I have spent about five dollars each piece.

I have  mixed  my thrift store finds with my good silver and they look great together !

I throw the white cloth napkins in the washer and dryer so they have that crinkled look.

I decided to use a white pumpkin with a black crow to keep with the black and white theme.

I used a large white tag with a black and white ribbon for place cards. And I wrote the names in ink and very messy so they looked creepy.

The Menu

spice nuts

fruit platter

veggie platter

raisin carrot salad

pumpkin bread

rosemary pork loin roast

herb mashed potatoes

french green beans

assorted wines

chocolate cupcakes

red velvet cake

coffee

Have a simply creepy evening….

Count down to our Mystery Dinner…

Count down to our Creepy Chic mystery dinner and I am going to post all my  tricks and treats this week as our dinner is this weekend.  The dinning room is decorated with just the right lighting…and some mice and black crows have decided to join us.

I have bought lots and lots of white candles to keep the evil spirits away.

The clues have been written and sealed with red wax…

and I have found that perfect creepy chic dress….and a very large pointy hat.

Darrill even built a graveyard in the front yard….

should be spooky …join me if your dare !

Shopping at San Clemente beach..

A very warm and fun weekend at San Clemente Beach ,  a beautiful Mediterranean beach town in Orange County. Darrill loves this beach and it’s pretty close to our house, so as soon as the weather gets hot here  in the canyon hills, we head to the beach to beat the heat.  We stay at the Hampton Inn and we love the bedding and the great continental breakfast. But first thing first, Mother’s day is coming up and  I wanted to do a little shopping. The best place for shopping at San Clemente is Del Mar street, and at the end of the street is the pier, and the parking is free, how simply perfect…

This looked like a cute shop…Villa Cucina home and kitchen.

I loved the color of this very fun shop called Jumpin Jack Cards …and the sale assistant was very helpful and give me some very interesting information about these two stores and the website address.

I loved the color of this very fun new shop called Jumpin Jack Cards and it’s other shop called  California Cove Gourmet, at 155 Avenida Del Mar st. Here is the website to both stores. http://californiacovedesigns.com/

California Cove Designs focuses on beautiful cruelty-free creations.
All profits are donated to causes that help abused animals, in an
effort to make the world a better place.”

“The soaps made here do not hurt the environment, and they are
really beautiful.  We believe that surrounding one’s self in beauty
promotes productivity and kindness.”

:

I love earthy delights and I found this very earthy shop  called “The Humble Abode at 228 Avenida Del Mar… www.thehumbleabode.net.

Is this bike  cute  ?  Yes ! I love the color and how old and rustic it looks. I knew I would love this shop.

as I walked in I saw the perfect color  creams candles all neat in a row,  with some wonderful  planters with a touch of green moss…

This  boutique is  filled with fresh treats, garden blooms, and one-of-a-kind gifts. As I  walked onto the  back
courtyard, I found more one of a kind garden  treasures.

A great day of shopping ! I had to call Tanya and tell her of this great street with all theses beautiful shops, and of course what I wanted for Mother’s Day,  next post dinning Alfresco  by the spanish village by the sea …

Hope everyone has a great week !

Today is one year of blogging.

Today is one year of blogging. Wow have I learn a lot in one year. I look at some of my post from a year ago and boy are they pitiful. I have change my header numerous times and I am still trying new ways to improve my blog. There are so many beautiful blogs out there and I have enjoyed so many of them. I am excited to reach a blog stat of 6,000.00 for one year I hear that’s pretty good. My views are about 50 to 100 everyday and thank-you all for visiting. WordPress has featured my blog for the California coast, and Al Fresco dinning, thank-you wordpress. So please if anyone has any comments on what you would like to see more of please let me know.

Simply enjoy… Christmas

PEACE…JOY…LOVE…

I love the natural colors of the local wineries and I love to use these colors in my home.

I  keep my decorations simple and fresh. I have  two trees in pots so I have the  trees up all year. So when Christmas comes around I add my black and white family photos in silver frames, and a little sparkle with silver antique bulbs and crystal ornaments. I love the fresh colors of white, silver gold and apple green with just a touch of red.

My living room has an antique piano and I have added some white flowers and an angel, and a silver crown.

Just a touch of greenery, pinecones, and  gold and brown ornaments for my sconces in my living room .

My breakfast table is set with a snack for santa, a brownie cupcake, mints, and coffee to keep him awake all night long…

I think Santa will like the red reindeer plates given to me by Darrill’s mom, and the letter C cup for Christmas.

The dinning room table is still a work in progress, so far I have  set the table with white linens , white plates and a couple of pinecones Brandon brought to me from the local mountains.

I use my silver reindeer vase for all of  my winter holidays, and I have added  fresh greenery from Trader Joe’s.

I have cut some white roses from my garden and put them into my silver sugar cup, and I use the little snowflake spoon Darrill’s Aunt  sent to me.

In my bathroom and master bedroom I have a tall gold tree and another angel..

My wrapping is creams and golds and silver, and plain brown postage paper with white paper ribbons.  I make my tags with white paper stock and pine cone needles.

My entry table has fresh greenery and small white candles.

I shop Trader Joe’s for their great selection of French truffles, candy, and Holiday cookies.  Trader’s Joes Greenery is so reasonable , I can add fresh greenery for my home for about $30.00.

I have  a little present filled with French Truffles for each family member for our Christmas eve dinner.

A Simply Earthy Christmas…

Joyeux Noel !

Solvang … shopping down Copenhagan street.

Strolling down Copenhagen street  with my soy chai tea in hand just window shopping, with my desire to explore, and to only look, but not to buy…

Why, because I have purchased all my Christmas items last year, and all the previous years at the after Christmas sales.

So I have boxes of Christmas cards, and lots of decorations, all colors,  I just need to decide  on a color scheme for this year.

I’m thinking black and white (are you not surprised?) and bright apple green,  and touches of red. I did dark wine and browns last year.

I love the color of this beautiful beverage container it’s the perfect shade of fresh green.

A Thomas Kinkade gallery, I use to love collecting his art. He lives in Carmel, not to far north from here. Another simply enchanting town for those of you who love little old world cottages ofcourse from his artwork.

I stopped here to taste, Al fresco dinning  for just $3.95 and they were worth every penny !

I love the Mole Hole, it’s very whimsical and seems the perfect place to discover  great Christmas ideas.

Look at that beautiful red cake plate, wow that would be perfect for birthday cakes. It’s $ 245.00, but a real antique, never mind I am sticking to my budget this year.

I love this place , the vendors here ship a lot of antiques from Europe. A lot from Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark. The city that stole my heart, Copenhagen…..What a romantic place. Tivoli Gardens,in the heart of Copenhagen, an old entertainment park with its many flowers, lights, ferris wheels,  and oriental buildings, which opened in August 1843 , I was there in 2004, and  is by far the most magical place I have ever been to.

                                  (picture fromhttp://www.copenhagenpictures.dk/ )

Here’s a picture of Rosenborg castle, one of the many enchanting castles in Denmark.

Well for those of you who can’t make it to Denmark, I think Solvang is the next best place to taste…to explore, and to discover.

Hope everyone has a simply enchanting week .

Next week  Guadalupe Beach,  Birthdays and my Thanksgiving table .

Shopping today…

Yes, I’ve hoped in my convertible with my hat  (but my hood leak today because of  the rain ) and went shopping at Mora’s Antiques in Old Town Lake Elsinore .

I was inspired by this collage by  http://weddingnouveau.com/  I know this is for a wedding, but I think this look would be perfect for a Vintage  Black and White Masquerade Ball.

Shells from our travels

Shells from all the beaches Leonardo and Hunter collected this summer. Shells remind me of distance beaches yet to be discovered. The wanderlust of travel. Maybe it’s just a trip to a local beach or a park. It really doesn’t matter as long as you find a treasure.   I have some beautiful rocks too but I’m not sure what to do with them.

I’ve added some of my personal treasures,  white flowers from my garden, scented candles and my antique silver.

California avocados and limes are perfect for any salad, and California’s treasure. They are the  perfect  shade of green.

The perfect setting for a romantic Friday night dinner at home.  I think I’ll make shrimp and avocado and lime salad.

Hope you have a nice weekend, I’m relaxing. Next week we’re heading to a distance beach yet to be discoved for some more beautiful shells, and I am taking you with me. So pack your bags and I will see you next week in Hawaii !
