A Wedding to remember…

Congrats to Lyndsey and  Steven  wed December 4th, 2010. I did not shoot this wedding, and I didn’t  bring my good camera so these photos aren’t very good…but I must say this was a very unique wedding. This couple is beautiful, creative , edgy and fun…and so was their wedding…

we arrived late and I was upset….but I got these great shots of this couple walking up the steps..

Steven Nunez is my brothers first-born and we all love him…

Lyndsey is a beautiful,  fun, smart and a exciting women, and we all love her.

Steven  is tall, dark , cool, edgy and a really nice guy… and they have been together for a long time.

so when we heard they were finally getting married we were all thrilled !

All eyes were on her as she looked  stunning …

Their very unique colors were purple, black, grey and pink….and white. The cake had a dark purple frosting, with chocolate cake and vanilla filling. They had a L, N and S on top for Lyndsey Nunez and Steven.

Her center pieces were black branches with hanging crystals and purple flowers stuck onto the branches. Lyndsey and her mom made the center pieces themselves wow, did they looked beautiful.

Tanya and Lyndsey, they look like they could be sisters…

and Brandon, Steven and Justin oh you can tell they are cousins.

They added just a little  bit of tradition, and a lot of originality.

A wedding to remember and I must say, we enjoyed ourselves till the last song was played.

Congrats  Steve for rasing such a great son,but you still have Emily,  and congrats to the beautiful couple  Steven and Lyndsey for overcoming any obstacle that came your way.

Welcome Dine with the Spirits…

The early 20th century was really the golden age for Halloween . The  Halloween  balls and galas would start off the winter season, and thus became what we know today as our  Halloween party’s and  celebration. So many people ask me why I love Halloween. Well, my mom’s birthday is Oct 30th and every year when I was young, my mom would make a grand celebration on Halloween, complete with a beautiful decorated table and extravagant foods and deserts. My mom is a wonderful cook. I still to this day call her to ask her for  some of her wonderful recipes.  I think maybe that’s why I became a kitchen designer.   I only wish I had half her talent. I love my dinning room, I painted the walls a rich Merlot,  it is a separate room so this is where I  love to have chic dinners, or set up  buffets.   I like to use a long white table-cloth to add some drama. I have a very ordinary chandelier so I took the shades off and added some white sheer ribbons and some spider webs . If you look close you can see tiny bats sleeping in the webs.

Here I will set up wines, wine glasses trim in silver, the ice bucket,  blood orange  punch,  fruits,  cheeses, crackers, and meatballs in my antique silver tray.

I use a jewelry mirror tray I found at a thrift store, and added some candles,  jars with creepy ball globe lids, and a big spider globe.

I am going to put green and black olives in the jars.

I love to serve blood-red pomegranate and pears with crackers and cheese.

and candles , candles , candles, everywhere, that’s what creates a creepy chic event, why should the kids have all the fun.

 And Happy Birthday Mom !

Next post the party… join us Oct 31th at dusk ….

Creepy Chic Halloween

Creepy Chic  Halloween week…I love the old world 18th century Halloween decorating style, and I start my festivities with black and white,  the theme I am using  for my  masquerade ball. Here are some of  my simple white dishes with  some  simple touches that  I have create for my Creepy Chic event.

I have added black napkins, some black  spiders , cream pumpkins,my glass desert plates, and  a black crow.

I bought these black and white clues cards at Micheals.  I used my old cologne bottle and added some stickers for my poison bottle. And I am using my crystal antique  napkin rings for some sparkle.

I decided to use my mask as a center piece, but I still need to pick up some white roses .

Darrill and I have been fighting over the three crows I bought at Target, he wanted my crows for his gravestones ! Target  had some great Creepy Chic napkins, plates and table cloths this Halloween season.

I am using my french press for coffee and I am making Mexican hot chocolate and pumpkin chocolate candy, the recipes on a later post. This would be the bistro ( kitchen ). Next post the Dinning room.

I hope everyone has a creepy fun week

Shells from our travels

Shells from all the beaches Leonardo and Hunter collected this summer. Shells remind me of distance beaches yet to be discovered. The wanderlust of travel. Maybe it’s just a trip to a local beach or a park. It really doesn’t matter as long as you find a treasure.   I have some beautiful rocks too but I’m not sure what to do with them.

I’ve added some of my personal treasures,  white flowers from my garden, scented candles and my antique silver.

California avocados and limes are perfect for any salad, and California’s treasure. They are the  perfect  shade of green.

The perfect setting for a romantic Friday night dinner at home.  I think I’ll make shrimp and avocado and lime salad.

Hope you have a nice weekend, I’m relaxing. Next week we’re heading to a distance beach yet to be discoved for some more beautiful shells, and I am taking you with me. So pack your bags and I will see you next week in Hawaii !

The magic of photography

Poolside with my retro camera , and it really works, a little present from Darrill. It’s all about the perfect picture for any photographer, the perfect angle , the perfect setting. I love the magic of photography, creating a moment in time to be cherish forever. A moment in life we can experience again  and again that only a picture can capture . A moment we can be ageless…

Simply natural photography, a natural setting,  simply who we really are , or maybe someone we want to be .Before I take a picture, I study the subject, I look at all the ways in which a person can look. You will be surprised on how many different looks you can get in one photo shoot.

Ready, say cheese. Being in front of a camera brings out the best in almost everyone.

Every women should have their picture taken, and release their inhibitions, to feel beautiful and   free…even if it’s just for a moment…

…it’s the magic of photography.

Simple outdoor set up

I had a few emails asking me how I set  my outdoor dining table , well I make it simple by having my picnic basket (bought at a thrift store for ten dollars) filled with my white plates, silverware, wine glasses, cloth  napkins and I get the salt and pepper, and carry everything  outside, I add a white table-cloth and set  the table . Sometimes I use my picnic basket for dinner rolls.  I always have my white  milk picture filled with white roses from my garden . How simple is that ? I am having a large party on  Monday so I am off to look for some chairs at the local thrift stores.  Thanks for the emails !

My Spring Table

I love to change my linens for spring, and then   head to my local farmer’s market for some fresh flowers . I only spent  five dollars for this bunch of flowers, which makes my dining room table more inviting.

I love my flower man. He’s at  old town Temecula on Saturdays  and Canyon Lakes outdoor mall  on Sundays.

Look how fresh and beautiful his flowers are!  Next I take out my old thrift store silver ,white  napkin and  dishes,  and my vintage napkin rings I bought for three dollars each.

But sometimes I think the table looks better without a table clothe or placements.

I use my gravy boat for everything, salad dressings, sauces etc.

And my silver rim wine glasses, I don’t care if I drink apple juice from them, I love to use them for  spring.

I love my vintage napkin rings, they are missing some stones, but that makes them even more beautiful.
