A cottage by the lake in Big Bear, California. What a perfect place to relax and enjoy the cool air, beautiful trees and everything right within walking distance. The beach is where we usually go but this time we decided to get a cottage by the lake. We got up early every morning and hiked down to the lake , and then we rented paddle boats and boy did we get our exercise trying to get from point A to point B which was impossible, with a four-year old steering. Next we tried to kayak, finally we rented a beautiful motor boat and had a wonderful dinner on board. Darrill and Leo played minture golf while I had lunch at a Tea house. At night we walked out under the stars and told storys in the woods. A magical place.
I would like to come back next year and bring our bikes , There is going to be a bike race called “Tour_de_Big_Bear. “, August 4th at the Village 7am to 4pm. Cycling enthusiasts will enjoy some of the same roads as Stage #6 of the 2010 and 2012 amgen-tour-of-california. Whether you select the 25, 50, 70 or new 100 mile stages, you will be treated to some of the most spectacular cycling scenery in Southern California.
Next post beautiful San Diego, Have a great weekend !
Last summer it was newport-beach-cottage.
We have been on three weekend jaunts these last three weeks, Santa Barbara, San Diego and Big Bear, and I am now just posting Santa Barbara. I have bags in the hallway still packed with our clothes. I am becoming one of those photographers who shoots so many photos I forget that I have all these beautiful places to post. I thought maybe I would use fewer words and just post my pictures, after all a picture is worth a thousand words, right ? Here I will start with Santa Barbara…I love this beach town, I would love to spend our entire summer here, it’s always so cool and the food on the wharf is the best fish on the California coast. We had lunch at Longborads Grill then headed to the Carousel. We rented bikes this time but brought Leos.
I have been collecting vintage camera’s and now I have a space in a shop selling my finds. I love shopping estate sales and bidding on these unique camera’s. I am obsessed with the thrill of the hunt and the final highest bid, and when it’s me… I am thrilled. I was surprised to find my cameras selling so quickly as I guess I am not the only one who likes to collect vintage cameras. Here is a photo I love from the sartorialist and I have this vintage Minolta and I must say, it’s so much fun shooting with film.
Have a wonderful week
Summer is a wonderful time to go to Temecula Berry Company and grab a bucket and pick some blueberries. Darrill loves blueberries and so does Leo, so when Darrill said he wanted to go and have Leo pick berries I grabbed my camera hoping to get a few good shots. The red barn against the blue sky and the green fields were absolutely beautiful. This farm started out as a family farm in the late 1990’s and since then the family has planted over 10 acres of southern highbush here in the Temecula Valley.
Temecula Berry Company is located on the east side of Temecula towards the Wine Country. The season starts in mid May and ends in early July. So this might be the last weekend to visit the farm. Information here for temeculaberryco.com.
A great place for some family summer fun.
Have a wonderful weekend, xoxo Cheryl .
I love a parade and we are going to the main street parade in old town Corona this year, but there’s nothing like a small town 4th of July parade in Chicago. You can see a-small-town-4th-of-july parade here.
Have a great week !
